VIDEO: Turnbull cock-up aids Ajax in Chelsea upset; Manchester City slump to Sporting loss; Hitzlsperger fires Hammers past Pana
Ajax 3 - Chelsea 1 (Pre-season friendly, July 23, 2010) The Amsterdammers, buoyed by the news that coach Martin Jol will remain in the Dutch capital this season, took just six minutes before scoring against Chelsea courtesy of a flying header into his own net from Jeffrey Bruma. The Pensioners drew level midway through the first half when the hosts were caught out being too relaxed in defence and Daniel Sturridge cracked home the equaliser from 25-yards. But Ajax were almost immediately back in front when, just two minutes later, keeper Ross Turnbull cocked-up collecting a long punt into his box and Siem de Jong was on hand to roll the ball into the empty net. Ajax finished the match with an injury time third courtesy of 19-year-old budding South Korean star Suk Hyun-Jun.

Manchester City 0 - Sporting Lisbon 2 (NY Football Challenge, July 23, 2010) (Longer Highlights) The Citizens conceded midway through the first half when a Simon Vukcevic cross from the right picked out Yannick Djalo in the City box and the forward guided a bullet header past Joe Hart. In the 39th minute Citys defence was torn apart by Sporting as Saleiro clipped a ball past Vincent Kompany to free Yannick Djalo who rounded Hart and tap into an empty net.
Manchester Citys Roberto Mancini: We were missing maybe 15 or 16 players and were playing against a team who are further on with their preparations for the new season. They have played maybe eight games and have the Europa League next week so it is normal that we were slower. There are a number of playe! rs who a re just training and maybe six or seven who are not yet back because they played at the World Cup. We are building our squad and still have 20 days to go.
