A brilliant goal you wont have seen: Pablo Aimar (Benfica) v Monaco
There were a host of pre-season friendlies across the world yesterday with Portuguese champions Benfica warming up for the new campaign with a 3-2 win over Monaco.
After taking an early lead through Airton, Benfica found themselves 2-1 down at the break as the Ligue 1 side hit back with goals from Yannick Sagbo and Cedric Mongongu.
This simply set the stage for a stunning comeback by Benfica who rallied in the second half with goals by Pablo Aimar and Paraguay penalty villain Oscar Cardozo.
Aimars equaliser deserves to be flagged up as a golazo for its stunning ferocity and it is little wonder that his Benfica team mates were inspired to go on and win the match.
The 30-year-old Argentine playmaker was a key factor in Benficas excellent 2009/2010 campaign and big things are expected of Aimar in the Champions League this season.
With so much football played on Saturday, there were a number of impressive goals including Niltons stunning 30-yarder for Vasco against Atletico GO in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
