Showboat FAILS: Cristian Pasquato (Juventus) & Ricardo Quaresma (Besiktas)

When they come off, nothing is better. But when you fail you look a right plonker.

Juventus took on Lyon in a high-profile friendly on Saturday night, a match which the Bianconeri won 2-1, but not everything went Juves way on the night.

With the match approaching its conclusion, playmaker Diego wowed the crowd with a defence-splitting rabona pass straight to 21-year-old left winger Cristian Pasquato. Pasquato was in fact flagged for offside once the ball arrived at his feet, but that was by-the-by for the number 24 as he looked to play a second audacious rabona in succession to fizz a cross into the Lyon mixer.

Great idea. Sadly though the execution was abysmal.

Looking back slightly further, and the end of last week Turkish outfit Besiktas travelled to Vikingur in the second leg of their Europa League second round qualifier. The Faroe Islands minnows were hammered 4-nil, but the clip we want to show you is a classic example of why showboating can sometimes backfire.

Flop Ricardo Quaresma was signed by the Super Eagles earlier in the summer from Inter Milan, and so far its gone terribly for the Portuguese trickster. In the first leg of the tie hed managed to sky a penalty over the bar, while in the second leg he tried to pull off a rabona cross only to see his trick easily dealt with by the home defence.

Infuriatingly, Quaresmas useless rabona to no-one can be seen here.
