Individual Highlights: Javier Pastore (Palermo) vs Juventus & Hernanes (Lazio) vs AC Milan
Serie A has been derided in recent season for being slow, boring and just not very good to watch. Those criticisms though seem to be receding this season as a group of fresh-faced stars take the Italian top flight by storm.
In particular this week has seen two outstanding performances by South Americans playing their trade in Italy. Palermos Javier Pastore stole the show as the Sicilians took out Juventus in Turin on Thursday night. A night earlier Lazios Hernanes had been the standout at player in the San Siro as AC Milan were held to a home draw.
Pastore, a classic number 10 playmaker, joined Palermo in 2009/2010 for 10m and became an important part of the Serie A side as they narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification, scoring three goals and providing three assists. This season hes followed that up with a tally of two goals in six outings, yet it is his overall performances rather than his bare stats which have been truly exciting.
With excellent technical ability, great vision, and huge creativity, Pastore took the plaudits against the Old Lady with an goal-scoring man-pf-the-match shift. After breaking the deadlock inside 120 seconds, Pastore consistently played intelligent balls to his forwards as well as being heavily involved in the second of the game too.

A night earlier, Lazios Brazilian playmaker Hernanes was stealing the limelight away from Zlatan Ibrahimovic and co. at the San Siro. Aside from testing Abbiati numerous times throughout the contest, Hernanes showed some tremendous and entertaining touches in the 1-all draw, while he also showed his cutting edge by superbly supplying the cross for the equaliser netted by Sergio Floccari.
