Top 10 Goals of the Week

You know the drill by now. The week is over and so its time to take stock of the golazos. And, as usual, weve been inundated by a silly amount of amazing strikes.

Whittling the list down to ten will leave some people less than pleased. Of those most likely to be upset by our choices this week, Franco Niell, Marcos Senna and Caio probably have the most to grumble about. But thats enough about those who didnt make the cut.

We begin with a goal made special not by the finish itself but, moreover, by the sublime backheel pass that set up the strike in the first place. The team aspect of goal one then contrasts with the superb solo nature of goal two, which saw one gung-ho, single-minded forward take on several defenders before thumping a beauty off the underside of the bar.

We suspect few of you will have seen goal three, a tremendous thumper from distance, and that theme continues into number four which captures one of the best free-kicks of the week. Goal four has stern competition however from number five, which could not have been any more accurate had the goalscorer physically placed the ball into the top corner by hand.

Two outrageously good team moves then roll into slots six and seven in which goal six appears to have been inspired by Barcelonas famed Tiki Taka style of football. Goal seven though is something a little different as a team put together an incisive attack with the incredible twist of not letting the ball hit the ground in the process.

That leaves three.

Long-range missiles rarely come with more finesse than seen in goal eight, while goal nine supplies us with our acrobatic goal of the week from Germany. That leaves number ten, which should be the poster-child goal to illustrate how to best punish a misplaced pass in the oppositions defence.

All thats left to say is sit back and enjoy!
