Fredy Montero named Player of the Week

Another week, another strong Fredy Montero performance for Sounders FC, and another accolade for the striker, as Montero was named Player of the Week for his role in leading Seattle to a come from behind win.

Montero scored twice against Chicago on Saturday, including a late game-winning goal in stoppage time, as Seattle defeated the Fire by a 2-1 score. His two-goal haul takes him to 10 on the season in league play, within striking range for the Golden Boot race.

A hot Montero has coincided with a successful run for Seattle, increasing their unbeaten streak to seven games with Saturday's win. The Sounders have also hauled themselves into playoff contention in the process. Montero joins Steve Zakuani as the second Sounder to earn Player of the Week honors.
