Dempsey scores in Fulham's Carling Cup rout
Clint Dempsey scored his first goal of the new season, netting in Fulham's 6-0 victory against fourth division Port Vale in the second round of the Carling Cup on Wednesday.
Having come off the bench at halftime, Dempsey capped the scoring for Fulham with a right footed shot from approximately 25 yards out in the 70th minute. The goal was Dempsey's first under new manager Mark Hughes.
Teammate Eddie Johnson broke his string of consecutive games without dressing, but was an unused substitute in the match.
Fulham will find out who it faces in the third round of the competition when a draw takes places on Aug. 28.
