After an average first half which Chelsea arguably shaded, Everton was far spunkier after the break and they capitalised on the bright sunlight in Cechs face as a Baines corner was headed home by Louis Saha. It looked like Everton would press on and claim a second, but then in the 74th minute Anelka freed Salomon Kalou on the right and the sub drilled a low shot in the far corner.
