Another Miss of the Season Contender: Armann Smari Bjornsson (Hartlepool) vs Huddersfield

Amid all the football currently being played in England its hard to stay on top of everything as it happened. Accordingly wed like to take you back to Sunday in League One and the inconspicuous match between minnows Huddersfield and Hartlepool.

Hartlepool managed to win the contest 1-nil courtesy of Leon McSweeneys first half strike, but the most memorable moment came when former Icelandic international striker Armann Smari Bjornsson conspired to fluff one of the easiest chances ever.

Looking to kill the match off, Hartlepools number 15 Antony Sweeney hustled and bustled his way into the box down the right hand side. Once in the danger area the forward had the presence of mind to lift his head up and spot Bjornsson standing all on his lonesome at the far post.

Sweeney squared and all Bjornsson had to do was knock the ball in the net.

It was easy-peasy. Simple. A doddle. Missing was impossible.

Only it wasnt.

Armann Smari Bjornssons world-class screw-up can be seen here.

(Cheers to 101er Reynir Ingi for alerting us to this incident.)
