Fantasy Premier League: Matchweek 10

The matchup gods are smiling on Arsenal.

With Arsene Wenger's side starting to look like itself after a rash of injuries, the Gunners welcome last-place West Ham to the Emirates this weekend for what should be the start of a three-week fantasy feeding frenzy.

With Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner back in the fold and Samir Nasri, Marouane Chamakh and Andrey Arshavin off to strong starts, the men in red are definitely ones to target with your weekly transfer. If you wish to use more than one transfer or have more than one allotted transfer and some money in the bank, this might not be a bad week to use your resources, especially with Newcastle and Wolverhampton next up on the schedule for Arsenal.

Here are a few more Fantasy Premier League notes along with our captain pick for the week and an SBI league standings update:

TICKLE ME ELMO

One of the surprise stars of the Fantasy Premier League game so far is Sunderland defender Ahmed Elmohamady.

Currently the third-highest-scoring defender behind Chelsea's Ashley Cole and John Terry, Elmohamady comes at a fraction of their prices (5.0). He's received bonus points in two of his last three matches and has at least four fantasy points in four consecutive matches. He's worth adding for the Black Cats' match at Newcastle this week.

AMERICAN WATCH

It might have only been one point, but Stuart Holden's foray into bonus-point territory likely isn't a one-time deal. Holden's all-around play at Bolton has garnered high praise, and even though he isn't scoring goals, he can still be a useful fantasy option as an inexpensive fourth or fifth midfielder.

Clint Dempsey's streak of games with at least four fantasy points ended at f! our, but he could very easily start up another one at Craven Cottage against Wigan this weekend.

As for the goalkeepers, Tim Howard (vs. Stoke City) makes for the best play among the starting American trio. Brad Friedel is a solid play against Birmingham, and Marcus Hahnemann is again a stayaway considering his matchup against Manchester City.

INJURY QUICK HITS

Carlos Tevez is the biggest name to join the injured list after picking up a thigh knock last week. He has reportedly returned to Argentina and will miss Manchester City's clash with Wolves and perhaps more after that...Although Arsenal is being restocked with talent, it will be without Abou Diaby and Manuel Almunia this weekend...Jose Bosingwa has returned to action for Chelsea and is at the right price (5.6) for a fantasy defender of his caliber...Liverpool defender Glen Johnson is unlikely to play against Bolton...Aston Villa will be shorthanded for its derby match with Birmingham as Gabriel Agbonlahor, Stiliyan Petrov and Luke Young are no-gos and Marc Albrighton is suspended...Peter Odemwingie is a big question mark for West Brom's match at Blackpool...Manchester United's forward pool is still thin with Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen both out. Feel free to unleash Chicharito.

LAST WEEK'S CAPTAIN PICK

Didier Drogba, Chelsea (2x2=4 points)

WHAT I REALLY MEANT TO SAY WAS...

Samir Nasri, Arsenal (14x2=28 points)

THIS WEEK'S CAPTAIN PICK

Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal, 11.8

He's healthy, in the lineup and has a dream matchup West Ham. I wouldn't worry too much about the missed penalty last week and would hope that he'd get another chance, because Fabregas i! s typica lly solid in that area. The Gunners' playmaker, Fabregas is a bonus-point magnet and should be able to deliver a captain-worthy performance this week.

Other options: Arsenal's Nasri, Arshavin and Chamakh; Chelsea's Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda (at Blackburn); Manchester United's Nani (vs. Tottenham); Tottenham's Rafael Van der Vaart (at Manchester United); Sunderland's Darren Bent (vs. Newcastle); Blackpool's Charlie Adam (vs. West Brom)
