Spartak Moscow beat Sibir Novosibirsk 5-3; Hammarby knock Brommapojkarna out the cup on pens

Spartak Moscow 5 - Sibir Novosibirsk 3 (Russian Premier League, July 21, 2010) Spartak struck early doors against Sibir courtesy of an Ari header. Midway through the half Spartak scored again, Ari played a defence-splitting pass to free Zhano Ananidze who raced clear and confidently bagged number two. Sibir were dead and buried early in the second half when Ari notched his brace, and it got better for the hosts when Zhano Ananidze also completed his double in the 67th. Sibir threatened a comeback when Aleksandr Antipenko and Tomas Cizek scored twice in three minutes but a fifth Spartak goal from Martin Jiranek made sure that an incredible revival was nipped in the bud. Maksim Astafyev did notch a late goal for Sibir but it proved mere consolation.
