Top 10 Serie A goals so far in 2010/2011
Serie A may be denigrated as the third best league in the world, behind the Premier League and La Liga, but the quality of the goals below would suggest the glory days of the late 80s and early 90s is not that far away.
In keeping with AC Milans storming start to the season, both Andrea Pirlo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic make appearances and two of the other goals included came against the Rossoneri.
There are a number of other players who have performed well in the first half of 2010/2011 to appear in the top 10, including Javier Pastore, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Antonio Di Natale and Edinson Cavani.
Of the goals to miss out, serial great goal scorer Fabio Quagliarella is the unlucky man to have two in the narrowly missed list.
1.Giandomenico Mesto (Udinese v Genoa, August 28, 2010) The opening goal of the season was an acrobatic beauty that Mesto claimed afterwards was lucky.
2.Ciro Capuano (AC Milan v Catania, September 18, 2010) A terrific hit at the San Siro from the veteran Catania left back.
3.Andrea Pirlo (Parma v AC Milan, October 2, 2010) The 2006 World Cup winner rolled back the years with an arrow of a strike into the top corner.
4.Javier Pastore (Palermo v Bologna, October 17, 2010) Remember the name. Argentine playmaker Pastore has been one of the revelations of the campaign.
5.Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli v AC Milan, October 25, 2010) This goal may have come in vain with the Rossoneri grabbing all three points but it still amazes how Lavezzi scooped the ball in.
6.Daniele Conti (Udinese v Cagliari, November 7, 2010) A terrific volley from the 31-year-old Cagliari midfielder.
7.Vincenzo Iaquinta (Juventus v Roma, November 13, 2010) Iaquinta demonstrated his trademark finishing skills with a c! racking acrobatic effort.
8. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan v Fiorentina, November 20, 2010) Zlatan won another game single handedly with another terrific goal to add to the collection.
9.Antonio Di Natale (Udinese v Napoli, November 28, 2010) Di Natale continues to bang in the goals and this one was a heat seeking missile into the top left hand corner.
10.Edinson Cavani (Napoli v Lecce, December 19, 2010) The Uruguay striker has been in incredible form in recent weeks and this injury-time winner was well worth the wait.
