Individual match highlights: Gareth Bale (Arsenal-Tottenham)
Gareth Bale has not been lauded since Tottenhams sensational comeback at the Emirates as he was after his two awesome performances against Inter Milan and Maicon, but once again the Welsh winger had a major impact on proceedings.
Both William Gallas (a captains display that may have secured the armband permanently) and Rafael van der Vaart (two assists and the equaliser) have been hailed in the aftermath of Spurs first win at Arsenal in 17 years but Bale played his own part too.
Even in the first half, which Arsenal completely dominated, Bale had a half chance from a corner and put in an energetic shift hugging the left hand touchline.
As is now well known, Harry Redknapp instructed Bale to play more inside in the second half to counter Arsenals dominance and Bale struck Spurs all important first goal after just five minutes of the second 45. The Tottenham star took van der Vaarts pass with a brilliant touch and after a trademark lung bursting run opened his body up to finish past Fabianski with a fine toe poke.
The importance of Bales strike cannot be underestimated, the whole mood of the Emirates changed and pressure was now firmly back on the home side.
For the rest of the half Bale continued to attack the Arsenal defence. Drawing fouls from Denilson and then Koscielny which led to Tottenhams winner. He also had time to skin his former Southampton team mate Theo Walcott in the left hand corner.
And in the dying seconds Bale went on one trademark blistering run that left Bacary Sagna flat on his face.
