Indvidual video highlights: New Spurs arrival Sandro v Arsenal
On a disappointing night for Tottenham fans, losing 4-1 to the old enemy, one of the few bright spots was the performance of new Brazilian arrival Sandro.
After the home defeat Spurs boss Harry Redknapp singled out Sandro for praise: It was his first game in England, the pace of the game would have been different and he did a great job, he worked really hard. I like him, he looks a good player. Hes full of energy and gets around the pitch. I think hell be a good player for us.
In truth, the former Internacional defensive midfielder struggled along with the rest of the Tottenham midfield in the first half as Arsenal had great control of the game. Sandro did though get stuck in and as can be expected of a Brazilian showed good touch on the ball.
The second period was even more promising as Sandro played in a more advanced role and provided support to Roman Pavlyuchenko and Robbie Keane. The new Spurs arrival proved his box-to-box qualities with a late clearance off the line as well.
With the likes of Tom Huddlestone, Jermaine Jenas, Wilson Palacios, Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart all competing for a place in the Tottenham midfield, it may take Sandro a little longer to make a permanent breakthrough into the first XI but he should adapt to English football pretty easily.
Clutching what looked like a hamstring injury, Sandros night ended in disappointment but Spurs fans liked what they saw and a place on the bench in the coming Premier League matches looks a real possibility.
